Task-oriented training for children with/without pathology
Why Task-oriented training for children with/without pathology
Pediatric physiotherapists are increasingly dealing with children who are less fit in their activities of daily life. Programs for individual or group-oriented therapy offer a possibility to maintain or increase fitness in children. Based on individual demand the physiotherapist will learn how to set up a fitness program in this training. The emphasis will be on aerobic and anaerobic endurance and strength. Clinical reasoning, tests, functional cardiovascular and strength training are the main topics.
Meant for whom
You are a (pediatric) physiotherapist with sufficient knowledge of the methodology of training and physiology of energy systems in children. You want to develop and adapt fitness programs for children in a practical way. You are interested in the functional and sport-specific translation of fitness.
The program
The following subjects will be addressed:
+ Exercise physiology regarding measuring and training of children with/without pathology
+ Clinimetrics related to fitness in children with/without pathology
+ Training principles and methods for children with/without pathology
+ From individual demand to testing and training to participation in ADL and sports
+ Didactic approach for working with groups
+ Developing group-oriented fitness programs
Methodology
The training consists of theoretical introductions that we will support with practical case studies. During the practical assignments you will work with each other or with your ‘own’ children. The whole program will be highlighted from the perspective of physiology, pathophysiology, clinimetrics, training methodology and didactics.
Time investment
The training will take eight one-day meetings. In addition it takes two extra days to work out assignments individually or in groups. These days can be scheduled to your own convenience. The total study load is approximately 100 hours.
The result
Afterwards you will be able to do measurements and give workouts based on both an evidence-based and a theory-based point of view. You will also be able to translate general measuring and fitness principles to fitness programs for specific groups of children or for individual children.
The diploma
If you have successfully completed the training, you will receive a certificate.
Location of the training and start period
These trainings are offered in-company. Location and dates will be determined in consultation with the parties involved. Please contact an Avans+
